Dave Roberts offers update about the violation of Evan Phillips and timeline to return to Dodgers

In a surprising movement, the Los Angeles Dodgers Evan Phillips with the right -handed Evan Phillips on Wedneday with the right forearm of discomfort on the injured list. Phillips started the season on the IL and returned after only seven appearances for the Dodgers in 2025.

The reliever spoke back to the IL about the injury and its general feelings.

“I thought it would only go into the workload again,” said Phillips about the Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. “I always felt good when I set up, so it is where my disappointment comes into play. I have the feeling that I can still contribute to it, but I think what it comes to is that we don't want to play around at the beginning of May.”

Phillips said the pain he experiences “got around”. The injury influenced him “in my lower arm or bicep, triceps, forearm”. While he was treated for pain, recovery did not go well.

The Dodgers currently have a total of 13 pitchers on the IL, an indication that the team's injury data will only take last season.

“Could he have set up today? Absolutely,” said manager Dave Roberts on Wednesday. “Nobody knows how he would react in the future. So I think for us, it was simply the most sense to make him to IL. Our expectation is on this 16th day, it will be active again. It's just a precaution.”

Phillips had not allowed a run this season and threw six strike outs while allowed two walks over 5.2 innings. The right -hander was one of the best helpers for the Dodgers last season and ended the year with an ERA of 3.62, 63 strikeouts and 17 walks over 54.2 Innerings.

The Dodgers' Bullpen is currently leading the league in Innings, and the injuries to the pitching staff are a big factor for why.
