The 6-year-old is critical of the HIT-and-RUN-RUN-LUTURE LARGO Walmart parking lot

A 6-year-old was critically injured on Thursday after he and his mother were hit by a hit-and-run driver on a Walmart car park, the police said.

The incident occurred when the woman and her child left the Walmart on 2677 Roosevelt Boulevard. The driver, who met her, also scored “several vehicles” in the parking lot before leaving the scene, the Largo police said in a press release.

The child was taken to a hospital with “critical, life -threatening injuries”, according to the press release, while the mother was taken to the hospital in a serious state, the police said.

The police later arrested Lauren Howells, 32, in connection with the crash.

The arrest was made after the police from Clearwater found the alleged hit-and-run vehicle in a Days Inn on the Gulf-to-Bay Boulevard. Howells was not there, but the police found out that she had returned to the hotel with the vehicle, which “agreed with the crash”, according to the press release.

Howells was later taken into custody in another place. The police said she admitted to “driving the vehicle, meeting something and leaving the scene”.

It looks like several charges, including leaving an accident with injuries and ruthless driving with serious bodily harm.

Howells has a history of arrest in Pinella's County from 2011, which contains several charges of drugs, including cocaine and fentanyl, as recordings.
