Gas leak causes disorders on the Town Road in the course of the closure

A gas leak on a busy Trowbridge thoroughfare has led to a partial road closure and triggered calls to avoid the area.

Newtown in Trowbridge is currently in one way after a gas leak over the weekend, with the area being pursuing heavy traffic this week.

Photos from the region show signs that provide drivers about the road closure and the diversion as well as heavy traffic on nearby routes.

On Tuesday, April 29, around 5:30 p.m., the interactive travel card of the AA Traffic News showed a strong traffic building along Newtown and the surrounding area.

The news that the road was imposed on the street on the street on Monday, April 28, when Wiltshire warned Council that the road was closed north.

In a declaration published on social media, Wiltshire Council said: “Please note that Newtown in Trowbridge is currently operating a disposable system due to a gas leak until the problem is resolved.

“The street is closed from Frome Road to Trinity Church to the north, but you can reach the road to the south from the roundabout of the Trinity Church from the end of the roundabout to the south.

“Please avoid the area, if possible, if possible, as expected.”
