The new report emphasizes the continuous strong pipeline security

According to a new report by the American Petroleum Institute and the liquid Energy Pipeline Association (LEPA), the safety of the pipeline further improved, despite the increase in pipeline and barrels.

The report explains the importance of maintaining a strong security record in the pipeline industry, since pipelines are of crucial importance for achieving the goals of energy safety and energy dominance in an affordable, environmentally conscious way.

According to the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Safety Administration, the report found that the total incidents of fluid pipeline have decreased by 13 percent since 2020, although the US oil production records were set up in 2024. While the pipeline industry has built more than 3,000 additional pipeline miles and increased more than 15 percent more fluid fluid liquid measures.

As API-LEPA Pipeline Safety Excellence Control Committee Chairman and President of the Exxonmobil Pipeline Company LLC Steven A. YAUTO said:

“From sight and outside the mind, pipelines consistently provide the energy that our nation depends on fewer incidents per barrel every year. These products are the root of an important supply chain that drives both productivity, innovation as well as growth and offers a variety of advantages for companies and consumers.”

Consistent, continuous improvement in security

An important section of the report shows how the pipeline industry has been reached since 2020. Since the delivered barrels have increased by over 15 percent, the most important incidents have decreased from 2020 to 2024, including the following:

  • Pipeline incidents that affect people or the environment decreased by 13 percent
  • The incidents of integrity management decreased by 33 percent
  • Incidents related to maintenance or operation have dropped by 22 percent

In the report that takes a closer look at the connection between delivered barrels and incidents, the report also contains specific statistics on incidents per million barrels, which affect both overall and those that affect people or the environment. Remarkably, the incidents have further decreased because the barrels delivered have increased. In particular, the total incidents per barrel, which were delivered, fell back 33 percent from 2019 to 2023.

Pipelines bring advantages for American communities

Outside of facilitating the delivery of affordable, reliable energy for all 50 states, the pipeline industry plays an advantageous role for local communities.

In the report outlined, such as “Pipelines travel through the municipalities, a constant source of tax income provides local services”. In order to achieve the effects on the numbers, an API report from 2023 shows that the industry supports almost 11 million jobs and contributes almost 1.8 trillion dollars to US economy and drives economic growth across the country. Sarah, a resident of Pennsylvania who was presented in the report, is of the opinion that without the oil and gas industry thousands of workers as they may not have stayed in the state for so long:

“From Pipeline operators and truck drivers to contractors and manufacturers, the American oil and natural gas industry supports a wide range of jobs in the whole state. Studies show that every direct job in the industry generates 3.6 additional jobs in pennsylvania.”

Since the Americans are still exposed to cost increases for basic needs, pipelines in the oil and natural gas industry enable families to offer affordable and efficient energy in a safe manner. In addition, statements in the most recent report by API-LEPA show that the industry also supports community organizations, school systems, first aiders and much more in the USA.

Conclusion: The API-Lepa report confirms the commitment of the pipeline industry to provide energy safely and at the same time meet the energy requirements of the Americans.
