Calvin Murphy (1948)

Murphy recognized in his radio career because of his lively style, but it tells a lot about how special he was as a player. “Cal” was the 18th overall election in the NBA design of 1970 by the San Diego Rockets. While she moved to Houston the following season, Murphy spent his 13-year-old career with this organization. Murphy finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year and voted in a remarkable debut season and established herself for the next decade as her starting point guard.

His best season was in 1977 and scored an average of 25.6 points, 2.2 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Murphy pursued this with an all-star appearance the following season and led the league at the free-wing flies in two of his last three years in the NBA. In 1983 he officially retired with an average of 17.9 points, 2.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals per game. Murphy also scored the top 3 in the Rockets franchise story in points, rebounds and assisted and was included in the Hall of Fame in 1993.

Elmore Smith (1949)

“The Rejector” is one of the biggest nicknames of all time, and Smith deserves him with his elite edge of the edge. The big man was the third overall election in the NBA design of 1971 by the Buffalo Braves. He finished second in the Rookie of the Year vote with an average of 17.3 points and 15.2 rebounds per game. The blocks were only recorded in the 1973/74 season, but Smith led the league with 4.9 blocks per game this year, which was his first season at the Los Angeles Lakers. Many believe that in the first two years he was also in this statistics in the league.

He spent time with the Milwaukee Bucks and Cleveland Cavaliers as a reserve before an injury shortened his career, which led to his retirement in 1980. Smith scored an average of 13.4 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game per game during his eight -year career. His 17 blocks against the Trail Blazers in October 1973 are still the single game record.
