Mystery surrounds the death of the Central Pa. County Workerin found in the Susquehanna River

Weeks after a body of a 33-year-old woman was found in the Susquehanna River in Lancaster County, Mystery continues to surround her death.

April Wefler was found on April 18 near the coast in West Hempield Township between the Wrights Ferry Bridge and the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Wefler, a Lancaster inhabitant, was discovered around 3:17 p.m., but was not immediately identified. Her family reported that she was missing the next day when they couldn't contact her.

Also, she had not appeared to work and had no contact with someone after April 15, the forensic doctor said. A Lancaster County spokesman said Wefler worked as a coordinator for election workers for the district's election campaign for six years.

Three weeks later, there are questions about how and why Wefler landed in the river.

Pennlive Wefler's office told the forensic doctor drowned drowned, but her type of death could not be determined. This means that the forensic doctor could not decide from the four other manners of death: of course, accidentally, suicide or murder.

Jason Jay, police chief of West Hempield Township, said that the department examines the incident as “unattended death”, which means that there were no witnesses.

There was no injuries or trauma in Wefler's body that made a bad game, said Jay, and the police did not look suspicious.

In her obituary, Wefler's family told her to “deliberately lead life with kindness and adventure”, like April.

Wefler loved to read and write at a young age and spent a year after her college degree in Cork, Ireland, and wrote for the independent newspaper of Cork, said her obituary.

Her love for travel continued after she had withdrawn to the USA and had started a blog. She traveled to 19 countries and all over America.

The obituary said Wefler said goodbye to her love for reading her niece, which she very much appreciated.

“The faith of April was a guiding force in her life and inspired her to step into so many countries without fear and know that God was with her,” said her obituary. “She never feared death and was convinced that one day she would be reunited with her lost relatives and Jesus.”

“April's bright light will continue to shine because the people who loved the most forever reminds you.”
