The beginning of the next season is not far away for Rangers – and the incoming US consortium seemed to increase their plans before taking control of Ibrox.

The American Pharmaceutical Tycoon Andrew Cavenagh and 49ers Enterprises have to make some major decisions before the start of the Champions League campaign.

Rangers will now take part in the competition in the second qualification level – with the first leg for July 22nd to 23rd.

Interims boss Barry Ferguson has declared that decisions will soon have to be made and that the call in the shelter may have progressed.

Steven Gerrard reports on the long list of candidates – with Russell Martin and Gary O'Neil, who is also referred to as potential candidates.

But have you given any information about your interest so far? Record sport Take a look at what the fans could expect next.

Steven Gerrard

It may be the most striking name on the list – but would Steven Gerrard return?

The Liverpool icon is the last man who brings Govan a title – but has had a hard time since leaving the Rangers.

In the 2020/2021 season, he led the club to an unbeaten league campaign and a first crown in 10 years before going to Aston Villa.

He only lasted 11 months in the Premier League Hot Seat before it was shown -a change to Al -ettifaq in the Saudi -Pro league could not impress.

In conversation with Graeme Souness after his release in Villa Park, the Ibrox icon told Gerrard that he had told him that a return to the cards could be if the relationship with supporters heals time to heal.

He said talk sport in 2022: “I saw Steven in Portugal a few weeks ago. He seemed in good shape and said to him:” Do you want to return? “And he said there is a little time and I will go back if something comes that is interesting for him, back into play.

“I don't see that he goes to Glasgow Rangers. Would the supporters be happy with him? I'm not sure. They think he left them at a difficult time, I'm not sure.”

Last month, the boss admitted outside the work that he did not storm back into the shelter.

He said: “I don't want to be back at the moment. I just got out, so I'm glad to awake, be free to take the family and be free from stress.

“I will go back in at some point, but if it is around the clock for 18 months, I just want to be free and do normal things that you cannot do if you train like a golf game or go down the Boozer.”

But could the temptation of the Rangers prove too much? He sent the fans into a frenzy through a video clip that was shared by him when he explained his “F **** Love” for the club.

Russell Martin

The former Ibrox defender was on the edge of the tour after only 16 Premier League games after showing Southampton's door -after led through the playoffs of the championship to the English top flight last summer.

The 39-year-old claimed only five points from the campaign before the door in St. Mary's was shown, but the assets did not improve for the fighting side when the relegation fell.

But despite a dark season, Martin's reputation has remained high due to his football philosophy based in possession – and that seems to have taken up the attention of the incoming owners.

Martin was asked by Sky Sports on the left to Rangers and left the door open.

He said, “I think I'm realistic. I don't think I will now get another chance for Premier League.”

He pressed on what he is for the perception of him, and he continued: “I think, like most managers who come from the championship -” not quite enough for the Premier League “.

“It may be unfair to the managers of the manager who sometimes get there, because they are there with a squad that was so successful the year before but is not entirely ready for the Premier League.

“There are only two managers who have been taken out of the championship for a long time – Nathan Jones and Graham Potter. The others have to get there and try to stay there and really have success.

“I really don't know (where is next). I am open to working abroad in England – I want to work back in the Premier League, now I have a taste of it.

“I want to return there and I think I can, so we just have to wait and see.”

Gary O'Neil

It is not a name that many fans would have expected -but the former Wolves boss is on the agenda for the US consortium.

He spent his management career on this stage to fight at the foot of the English Premier League and keep both Bournemouth and wolves off the drop.

After O'Neil had held the English top flight football at Molineux last season, he was shown the door by 10 Game Winless Run this season.

He previously took a look at Ibrox when striker Fabio Silva was loaned in the club.

And if he should get the appearance in Glasgow, it is clear what he is expecting – goals.

After Silva's loan moved north in 2023, he said: “He is in one of the best teams in this league, so he should get enough opportunity to be in and to be the goal of getting many opportunities and more minutes than here.”

While the move did not work, can O'Neil Cyriel Desser and Hamza Igamane benefit when he lands the job?
