RCSO publishes a video that leaves light on a crash that killed the 8-year-old boy

The newly published surveillance video from Garry's Auto Repair offers a critical context in the tragic crash that demanded the life of 8-year-old Camden Jace Poole on his birthday.

The video, which is now in the hands of investigators, records the sequence of vehicles that turn left at the intersection of the Peach Orchard Road and Tabakstrasse in the moments before the fatal collision.

According to the Sheriff's office in Richmond County, the driver of a Chevrolet pickup-identified was Lee Earnest Jones Jr.-in the left lane in the Peach Orchard Road in the left left lane in the south. The first three vehicles started their left curves between 7:22 and 7:28 a.m., whereby the light switched from green to yellow.

At 7:31 a.m., both Jones and Kayla Poole, who drove through the intersection with their son Camden in the back seat to the north, entered the intersection under a yellow light. The light was red at 7:32 a.m., just like the crash occurred.

In a statement by captain Michael Lewis from RCSO traffic division, the investigators found that Jones' pickup turned left in front of Pooles.

“When the missing vehicle initiated its left curve, the right front of the mis -organizer contacted the front of the vehicle 2,” the explanation said.

The sheriff's office came to the conclusion that Jones was to blame because he could turn left.

Both vehicles made the effects turn. Jones' truck met on the northeast side of the intersection, while the car was on the trail of Pooles to the southeast. Camden, who was sitting in the back passenger seat of his mother's car, suffered critical injuries. It was later declared dead at 1:50 p.m. in the WellStar MCG Health Medical Center

Jones was arrested and charged with murder for vehicles of the offense and failure of the follow -up. He was instructed in the Charles B. Webster Detung Center.

Both drivers first told the investigators that they believed that they had a right of way. Jones said he had vehicles followed by a green arrow in front of him, while Poole stated that she entered the intersection when her light was yellow. A witness at the crime scene confirmed that the lights were green at this time to the north and towards the south on the Peach Orchard Road and that the vehicles twisted on the left had driven through the intersection before crashing.

In the meantime, Lee Jones Jr. and his wife Lisa Bates-Jones were deprived of profound grief of the tragic death of Camden Poole, who runs out of his family and all those affected by the heart. In a Facebook post on Friday, they recognized the unimaginable pain of losing a child, especially on his birthday, and asked for continuing prayers and compassion, while her family navigated this difficult time.

They emphasized their commitment to the respectful communication and the pursuit of truth and justice, cited the strength, cited Psalm 34:18 from their faith and thanked the community for their love and support.

Camden's grandmother has set up a fundraising campaign for Gofundme to collect money for medical and funeral costs. It has collected almost 15,000 US dollars by Friday evening.
