Atlanta Crime Dips: APD publication of late criminal statistics

ATLANTA – – According to city guides, the decline in murders shows that their efforts to reduce crime are working.

Grace Vetuschi says she feels safer. “Nice to hear that our community is safer,” said Vetuschi.

According to the numbers:

The Atlanta police reported that the overall crime rate in the first four months of this year has dropped by 11 percent compared to the same time in the previous year. Murders went by 23 percent. The Atlanta police have examined 30 murders to date. That dropped from 39 in 2023.

“Whenever it decreases, this is a good indication that something you do is effective,” said council member Michael Julian Bond, Post 1 in total.

Bond, a member of the Committee on Public Security, says Atlanta puts more police officers on the street. “We were able to hire more police officers and have more people patroy,” said Bond. “They focus on gang activities, focus on violent crimes and ensure that they are up to date.”

According to Bond, initiatives work to provide young people. “We will continue to have the best friends of camps, we will continue to have midnight basketball, we will continue to have the summer job program and all activities that we can offer to give young people something,” said Bond.

The bad news is that the installments have increased. Rape has increased by 24 percent. Robbery raids rose by 26 percent.

According to Bond, APD will increase police efforts even more if the summer months heats up.
