New Carlisle, Ind. (Wndu) – A vigil took place on Friday evening at the New Prairie High School to support the community to support the injuries and to recover from the terrible bus accident on Thursday to the USA 20 and Fail Road in Laporte County.

According to the Laport County's sheriff office, seven student athletes and two coaches were injured. Some were treated on site while others were taken to the hospital.

According to reports, a student was reported so much that he had to be flown to a regional hospital for treatment.

“There is something I won't let go, and that's hope,” said a new prairie representative. “I can't let go because I think we always had to have this hope in these times. We have to hope that tomorrow we have to hope for a better future, we have to hope for students, our families, our community; we have a lot of hope.”

As soon as the service was completed, the members of the new Prairie baseball team gathered on the field to take a knee and speak a quiet prayer for their teammates.
