Two dead after car accident in the southeast of Sioux Falls

According to the press release, rescue workers were sent to East 57th Street and the South Veterans Parkway at around 6:30 p.m.

The investigators found that a Ford Taurus from 2015 initiated a left turn into 57th Street. The vehicle turned south in front of an oncoming GMC Sierra 2018 on the Veterans Parkway.

A 78-year-old passenger who occupied the Ford Taurus was declared dead according to the press release at the crime scene. The 77-year-old male driver was taken to a regional hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Each came from Lester, Iowa. The only resident of GMC Sierra, a 35-year-old man Harrisburg, was brought to a regional hospital with serious injuries, according to the press release.

The investigators currently do not know what circumstances led to the crash or whether speed or impairment were factors.
