Washington Capitals in Carolina Hurricanes

Series is bound 1-1

Serial opportunities: Hurricane -220, capitals +180

In game 1, the Hurricanes Washington overwhelmed in shots and chances and won in time. In game 2, the capitals found paths to take back control.

The second line of the capitals was one of the biggest differences in game 2. This trio was absolutely subdued in Spiel -Matchup minutes against the Sebastian Aho line in game 1. This time their minutes were divided between the AHO and Jordan Staal lines. Connor McMichael opened the rating in the second period. His right wing, Tom Wilson, was active at both ends of the ice cream – he played a solid defensive game, was physically and broke two points. Since the series withdraws to Carolina, the Canes can try to adapt these matchups to their favor again.

John Carlson's Power Play goal at the beginning of the third was the game winner for Washington. After 20 successful kills, it was the first power play goal against the Hurricanes in this post-season.

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers

Oilers lead series 2-0

Serial opportunities: Oilers -600, golden knight +425

No goals by regulating Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid? No problem for the oilers. In the second half, Edmonton's depth scored with goals by Jake Walman, Vasily Podkolzin and Darnell Nurse.

Vegas reacted late in the second with a William Karlsson goal to keep the golden knights. Victor Olofsson's power play goal pulled Vegas within one, then band Alex Pietrangelo 4: 4 to force overtime. After some two -time goalkeepers from Adin Hill over two periods, Calvin Pickard had a difficult third period, but was more composed for overtime.

Nicolas Roy's main penalty (and game errors) for cross-checking Edmonton sent to the Power Play for five minutes. The golden knight killed this, but still failed in the extension. McDavid flew past Jack Eichel, who did a good job in order to slow down the top line of the Oilers in the regulation and to access the game winner. The Oilers drive home with a 2-0 series.
