After his girlfriend's children brutally murdered a puppy, a man fled into a nearby river to hide from the authorities.

The incident, which the sheriff of Erie County Paul Sigsworth described as “pathological”, occurred on May 5 in a house in Milan Township, Ohio, according to CBS subsidiary Cleveland 19 news.

The MPs arrived at home after a call from 911 reported that a man killed a puppy and triggered a “rush to scream of family members”, said the Sheriff office of the Erie County (ECSO) to the outlet. The MPs quickly discovered an “extremely disturbing” girl outside the house and she told them that the living friend had killed and fled her mother's living friend.

The girl and a second child told the police that friend Jimmy Wiggins threatened Jr.

“What was one of the children described was that Jimmy threatened to strangle Hank, and then he heard how Hank would scream, how a puppy would scream, and they heard an effect,” Sigsworth told Cleveland 19 news.

The children stated that it was dead in the bathroom. The 46 -year -old Wiggins had also disappeared and allegedly left only a bloody hammer and a bottle of peroxide that the children said that he had washed his hands.

In the meantime, the mother of the children, the 42-year-old Gretchen Howard, was at home, of which the ECSO said, “in complete disorder, smelled strongly of animal feces/urine and, due to the unfortunate conditions, basically uninhabitable,” according to Cleveland 19 news. Howard spoke to officials, but was incomprehensible, the police said.

During the search for the surrounding area for Wiggins, the deputies found footprints, which they followed behind the house to the river. There they heard sticks break and a splash, said the ECSO. With the help of additional first aiders and a drone, the MP Wiggins were able to locate, some of which were dipped into the water and captured at a tree branch.

He was then taken into custody together with Howard – which was found in the possession of a crystallized substance just a few hours earlier during a traffic stop, Cleveland reported 19 news. Wiggins was with her during the stop and drove without a driver's license according to the exit.
