Man who was killed in Route 22 in Westmoreland County in the early morning at the refresher accident on Route 22

A man is dead after a crash in the early morning in West Moreland County.

According to the district insurer's office, the man died after his car had ended a dump truck on Saturday morning shortly before 3:30 a.m.

The victim was identified as a 71-year-old Thomas Peer and declared dead at the crime scene.

The crash occurred along Route 22 in Murrysville near the Mellon Road.

An investigation showed that Peer was the only person in the car when he left the dump truck behind him and stuck under it.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
