The family of Clearwater Ferry Crash victim mourns the loss, while the investigation continues to be expected: “We need justice”

A family mourns the loss of the death of a father who was killed in an accident with the Clearwater ferry on Sunday evening.

The 41 -year -old Jose Castro was killed when a leisure boat in the ferry near the Memorial Causeway Bridge fell into Clearwater. The investigators said that 10 other people were sent to the hospital after the crash.

The ferry came back from Clearwater Beach when the leisure boat hit the back.

Who was the victim of the Clearwater Ferry crash?

Jose's family said he was free of work on Sunday and decided to go to the beach. Castro's sister Sandy Todd said she didn't hear her brother that day, but then got a call around 2:30 a.m.

“They came and gave me the news that my brother had an accident and took his last breath,” said Todd.

Castro leaves two young daughters.

“He leaves an eight -year -old and three -year -old, two girls who love my brother deep,” said Todd. “You can see in your eyes as soon as you see my brother as your eyes seem.”

“[Their] Papa was there for her, picked up her from school, took her to work, brought her to the park, “said Todd.” Every single day was like that. His whole routine was like that, and now there is no dad. ”

Todd said she and her brother moved to the United States together more than 20 years ago and were the best friends.

“He was a young man, full of life, full of happiness,” said Todd. “Everyone who knows my brother remembers my brother as a happy, smiling, modest guy.”
