Motorcyclist killed in Lake County. FHP looking for suspects

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the USA 27 near the Citrus Grove Road.

Soldiers said the driver of a Yamaha motorcycle from 2009 had been stopped at a traffic light on the inside in the south of US 27 when the light got green and the driver started to go. A 2024 Honda HR-V, which drove behind the motorcycle, turned to the outer lane to avoid the slower vehicle in front of us.

Moments later, a Chevrolet Tahoe failed from 2001, which also drove south, not slower and hit the motorcycle from behind, said Troopers. The Tahoe then collided with the back of the Honda before flea in front of the scene.

The motorcyclist was brought to the South Lake Hospital and later declared dead. The driver and the passengers in the Honda were not injured and stayed at the scene.

The abandoned Tahoe was found about three miles north of the fall site in the median of the USA 27. FHP took possession of the vehicle for further processing.

The crash is examined. Each with information is asked to call FHP under *347 or crimeline under 1-800-423 tips.
