Bond for truck drivers in a fatal I-35 crash from $ 1.2 million to $ 7,000 reduced

Austin, Texas – The truck driver was arrested last month after a fatal crash of 18 vehicles on Interstate 35 had significantly reduced his bond on Tuesday, according to Travis County's court.

The collision with a tractor -trailer that took place on March 13th demanded the life of five people and injured 11 more, as the provisional report of the National Transportation Safety board shows.

The driver, the 37-year-old Solomun Weldekeal-Araya, was initially charged with seven crimes in connection with driving in intoxicating driving. These accusations came from early police reviews, including field nuisance tests and an evaluation of drug detection. However, a toxicological report did not result in an existence of alcohol or detectable drugs in his system.

The lawyer of Weldekeal-Araya, Bristol Myers, then submitted an application to reduce his bond and demanded that he will be released against a minimal deposit-$ 1 per number or a total of $ 7. At the time of his arrest, he received a total amount of 1.2 million US dollars, including $ 200,000 per counting for six gasification offers and $ 100,000 for a counting of poisoning attacks.

On Tuesday, court files showed that the judge approved a reduction in his bond to USD 1,000 per indictment. In addition to the lowered binding, new pre -judicial conditions have been imposed:

• GPS persecution, without the output lock or limited zones
• Installation of a ignition locking device
• Random urine analysis tests
• Supervision preliminary services
• Prohibition of operating a commercial vehicle

Although the toxicological report has given doubts about the initial allegations of poisoning, Weldekeal-Araya is still charged with several crimes during the court proceedings.
