A community in Florida hit an unexpected visitor when an alligator discovered “knock on the doors” in the neighborhood.

“Our MPs of the 3rd district answered a call this morning … Gator knocked on the doors in the Tortuga community. Fortunately, he was safely secured and safely handed over to the trapper,” said the Lee County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) on Friday, May 9th, in a Facebook post.

“What about taking a bite of crimes? 😏🐊”, they jokingly added.

The officers responded to a call to the community, which is about 175 miles southeast of Tampa, according to an e -mail from the LCSO to McClatchy News at around 7 a.m. The Miami Herald. The sheriff's office also found that “the gator was apparently over more than 7 feet”.

According to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), May is the official start of the mating season of the alligator pairing in Florida. This marks a time when it is known that men are looking for friends, which increases the likelihood that they will appear in neighborhoods and other populated areas.

The FWC also notes that this is a season in which male alligators are increasingly territorial. It is therefore advisable to exercise additional caution on water body and to be aware of their surroundings – especially during dawn and dusk.
