As soon as the play-in round is over and the playoff clip of the NBA is set, the 14 non-playoff teams that are pulled for the draft lottery are locked up. Each team is then assigned on its basis on the basis of its recording (more on that later). The three best teams share the 14 percent chances of winning to win the top outline, while the 14th team only has a chance of 0.7 percent to jump to number 1.

The winner of the first drawing receives the first choice, the winner of the second drawing receives the second selection and so on until the first four picks were decided. When a team's number is drawn again after it has been drawn, the machine is reset and new numbers are pulled.

After the four best picks are blocked, the Picks 5-14 are assigned in the order of the recording, the remaining team with the worst record receives the fifth choice and so on.
