US geisel publication movement receives a mixed reaction in Israel, Rift emphasizes

Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that there would be no ceasefire in the exchange for the release of a US Israeli-Geisel in Hamas to trigger the discomfort in Israel and to present another sign of the growing crack.

The Hamas on May 11 said that it would publish Edan Alexander, a US Israeli soldier, before a visit to the US President Donald Trump, and when the group unveiled that it was used in direct conversations with Washington in the direction of an armistice.

Trump welcomed the “monumental news” in a contribution on social media and described them as “good faith”.

“Hopefully this is the first of these last steps that are necessary to end this brutal conflict,” he added.

An explanation from Netanyah's office said that Alexander's release was expected and that Israel had not given any concessions for it.

The explanation states that Israel has not committed itself to an armistice or free Palestinian prisoners as part of the release and only agreed to create a “safe corridor” so that Alexander can be returned.

The explanation states that, despite the expected hostage publication, Israel would still continue his plans to improve his offensive in Gaza. Israel says that he can only start this plan after visiting Trump to the Middle East this week to enable a potential new ceasefire.

Israel's exact participation in the publication of the publication was not immediately clear. But it led to a counter reaction against Netanyahu, with critics accused him of having to rely on a foreign guide in order to free the remaining hostages.

Some said that Alexander had been honored for freedom because of his American citizenship and said they were concerned about the fate of the other 23 living and about 35 dead prisoners who stay in Gaza.

“Trump saves him. Who will save gala and civily?” Maccabit Mayer, the aunt of the Geiseln Gali and Ziv Berman siblings, told Radio to Israeli army. She said she is sorry that the twin brothers do not have “the right citizenship”.

Some of the relatives accuse Netanyahu not to do enough to free their loved ones and say that its existence is politically motivated to continue the war in Gaza.

Although the decision to publish the American soldiers was welcomed in Israel, he was interpreted as another sign of the growing gap between Netanyahu and Trump.

The step of the US government of bypassing Israel and dealing with Hamas to secure Alexander's publication shows that “Trump and Netanyahu go in two different directions,” said Luciano Zaccara, Associate Professor of Gulf policy at Qatar University.

“They both follow their own interests without consulting each other,” he said to Al Jazera.

Zaccara also pointed out that Washington negotiated with the Houthis and Iran, even when Israel also attacks the Yemeni rebel group again and again and is advocated for a more aggressive attitude towards Tehran.

Trump follows his “own politics … of his own teaching” and ignores some of the wishes of a great ally, he added.
