5 killed in NYC in violent weekends, no arrests yet, the police said the police said

According to the NYPD officials, the police examined five separate murders on Monday, which took place throughout New York City at the weekend.

Another man was fatally shot into his chest at around 8:30 p.m. in Willis Avenue near the 137th Street in Mott Haven. First aiders brought both victims to the Lincoln Hospital, where the 30-year-old man was declared dead and the 42-year-old woman was stable. The police did not provide any information about a suspect or motive.

The police reacted to an attack on 34th Avenue and the 96th Street in North Corona within the same hour. The officials found a 32-year-old man with several stab wounds and brought him to the Elmhurst Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died. In this case, the police in the early Monday had no information about a suspect or motive.

On Sunday, shortly before 2 p.m., according to NYPD, the officials reacted to a 911 call about a man near the streets of the crescent and Etna streets in Cypress Hills. They found a 41-year-old man who was stabbed in a J90 shuttle bus in the stomach, the alternative of the MTA to the J-Zug service in this area when the transit agency replaced railway tracks. The police said the man was declared dead at the Brookdale University Hospital and in the Medical Center. A few hours later on Sunday, shortly before 6 p.m., the police reacted to another deadly stab on East Fordham Road and in the Webster Avenue in Fordham North. Officials said that a 31-year-old man had been stabbed in the upper body several times and was declared dead after the first aiders brought him to Saint Barnaba's hospital. The police did not state any details about a suspect or motive.

From May 4, the murders had decreased by almost 27% in the city this year compared to the same period in 2024, according to the latest available NYPD data. Experts say that violent crimes tend to bend when the weather gets warmer and more people gather outside.

Police data show that this year the murders in the 115th district of the NYPD, which belongs to the North Corona, and the 48th district, to which Fordham North belongs, has so far increased. They had risen by three or four by May 4th.
