Parts of the DC area under flood guard to start the week full of expected wet weather

Most of the DC area has drought conditions, but the showers are serious this week and offer some urgently needed precipitation and the risk of floods.

April did not get the memo because most of the DC area has drought, but the showers will be seriously in this week, which offers a certain relief and urgently needed precipitation and at the same time represents the risk of flooding.

The western suburbs and the southern points of DC will be under a tidal guard from Tuesday morning to Wednesday morning. The showers start on Monday evening, but according to the National Weather Service, this is only the beginning of a long time with moderate to heavy rain.

The weather service is likely to precipitate rainfall between 2 and 4 inches, whereby the eastern slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Alleghenies are even higher quantities. According to the weather service, a few Thunder can also accompany the showers.

Heavy rain could influence both morning and evening commuters on Tuesday.

“Tomorrow morning – a good, steady rain – so the windshield wipers will be morning morning,” said Jordan Evans Jordan Evans. “Lunch hours – still a few showers, but then some heavy downpours in the afternoon are possible and thunder.”

The temperatures on Tuesday remain in the upper 60s to low 70s, said Evans.

While the heaviest rain is forecast for Tuesday, the rest of the week is not just sunshine and rainbow.

Cast storms are possible on Wednesday and it will be warmer in the mid -1970s.

Evans said that a second system will move in with increased heat and humidity on Friday and Saturday and increase the likelihood of storms this weekend.
