The community accidentally remembers Montgomery County Teen Teen and killed by friend

A Maryland community remembers a student who was shot by his friend at the weekend. The Montgomery County police say that the suspect is currently exposed to a number of charges, including manslaughter.

What we know:

The Kennedy High School Community remembers Derrick Palmer, 16, who was killed in Beltsville at the weekend.

Fox 5 spoke to Palmer's father, who said his son was a normal teenager boy who liked to play with his friends, video games, sports and dreams of playing college football.

“My son played football for most of his life. That is one of his real passions. His real joys,” said Quentin Palmer.

From the age of four, the soccer field was one of Derrick Palmer's most popular places.

“He wanted to play the ball in college. He was looking forward to completing this year,” said Quentin Palmer.

He completed his junior year at John F. Kennedy High School, but these dreams were canceled on Saturday afternoon in his house in Beltsville at Heartwood Drive. Prince George's police were called for a shootout.

When they arrived, they found Palmer with at least one firing wound. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The police say his 18-year-old Kimaury Kamara shot him with a gun while playing.

According to court documents, Kamara told the investigators that he had the gun on Palmer “believed that the pistol had no round in the chamber, pulled the withdrawal and hit his head”.

The police say that she found several other weapons in the room during a search.

What you say:

“We just try to take it one day after the other,” said Derrick's father, Quentin Palmer.

He says he left the house just a few moments before shooting.

“He was in a very good atmosphere. He was actually ready to go out and eat it in the evening,” said Quentin Palmer.

In an explanation, Palmer's coach at Kennedy High said: “He was a brother of his teammates, a young man of enormous character, heart and determination.”

When his family mourns and tries to pick up these pieces, Palmer has some words for other parents.

“Make sure that your children are always safe and safe,” said Quentin Palmer. “The High School also published a letter today that expresses sadness and informs parents that school psychologists are available for pupils and employees.”

The school community plans to honor Palmer's memory in the coming days.
