A 79-year-old carjacking victim was killed while trying to be taken in Norco on Monday afternoon.

According to the Sheriff department of Riverside County, the MPs were sent to the ARCO petrol station in the 600 block of the Hidden Valley Parkway at around 12:30 p.m. after receiving a call from a witness of carjacking.

“The caller reported a man's witness who entered the driver's seat of a vehicle and partially drove with the vehicle owner on the back seat,” says a statement by department officials.

The victim was ejected from the car after being pulled about half a mile, the MPs said.

The Corona police found the victim after falling out of the car.

He was taken to a nearby hospital in which he later suffered injuries he had suffered in carjacking. He was identified in James Norman in Corona.

The investigators say that he was in a Karwasch near the petrol station and the back of his car suck when the suspect jumped onto the driver's seat and started.

The deputies found the stolen car and took the suspect in custody.

“During the investigation, the victim's SUV was located near the intersection of the Polk Street and the Magnolia Avenue in the city of Riverside,” says a declaration by the MPs. “The investigators started working closely with members of the Riverside Police Department and ultimately held a man near the intersection of the Magnolia Avenue and the Tyler Street.”

He was identified as a 29-year-old Ryan Hewitt, a resident of Corona. He was booked for carjacking and murder.
