Briefboxd to Lauch tvod 'Video Store'

Film-focused social media platform Letterboxd plans to start a curated tvod service (transactional video-on-demand) services, which aims at its 20 million user base.

Letterboxd revealed the plans on Tuesday at the Film Festival in Cannes and said that in the Letterboxd Video Store, the rent would be equipped with the topic of “shelves” on the subject of film festival, overlooked titles, global cinema and emerging filmmakers. The rentals will either be available on demand or in time -controlled windows that are modeled according to Festival Screenings.

The Letterboxd TVOD service plans to curate its selection through user activities and enthusiasm on the entire website.

“Every day we see members who recommend each other to films that expand their waking lists and hunger to discover more,” said Matthew Buchanan, CEO of Letterboxd. “Letterboxd video store is our way of delivering for these film lovers and creating a special room for films that make an audience.”
