NBA News: Kevin Durant burdens the NBA -draft lottery

Chicago organized the annual lottery of the NBA on Monday evening. Although the Dallas Mavericks entered the lottery with only 1.8% of the chances, they landed the top selection for this year's upcoming draft.

But the Mavericks were not the only franchise that was unexpected in Chicago. The San Antonio Spurs and Philadelphia 76ers also landed the rights to the top three. The surprising events of the night led to a strong reaction by Phoenix Sun's Star Kevin Durant.

Durant suggested that the current NBA design landscape enables a considerable degree of uncertainty.

In particular, the Sun's striker seemed to emphasize the morality of organizations that briefly presented after the use of tanking strategies in the hope of making a top election.

“Tanking must be very stressful for an organization,” wrote the NBA MVP 2014 about X.

The Charlotte Hornets again ended well below the 500 mark and ended the 2024-25 season with less than 20 wins. The Washington Wizards, who had the second overall selection in the head of last year, have not been able to record more than 20 victories in the past regular season.

Despite the lackluster records and the relatively strong probability of making a top selection, the Hornets and assistants ultimately selected outside the top three.

The NBA lottery chances have noticeably flattened in recent years, which makes it less likely that teams who are met on the Reset button are selected to top three with the right.

However, it only took a few years ago when the Rockets from Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston ended a season with some of the poorest loss records in the league. The Thunder and Rockets entered this year's NBA playoffs as the first and second seeds of the Western Conference.

In the meantime, the sun seems to be on a crossroads. In this low season, the Front Office of Suns has to decide whether Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal Trio are said to have proven to be largely unsuccessful.

Phoenix missed the post-season after ending the 2024-25 season with a record of 36-46. The Suns separated from coach Mike Bodenholzer in April after only one season.
