Hinsdale couple mourned after a fatal crash by La Grange – NBC Chicago

A community in Hinsdale mourns the loss of Brett and Melissa Lane, a beloved couple and parents of five years, who were killed on Friday in a crash with several vehicles.

The crash occurred shortly after 2 p.m. on April 25 at the intersection of the 47th Street and the Willow Springs Road in the suburb of La Grange. According to the La Grange police department, a white SUV was observed, which traveled north at the Willow Springs Road at high speed when he met several vehicles at the intersection – including the car driven by the alleys.

The La Grange police confirmed that before the crash, the same SUV was involved in two collisions in the nearby Western Springs. The officials reacted to these crashes when the fatal incident occurred.

The authorities said that the vehicle was not involved in police persecution and researched whether the driver had suffered a medical event. The identity of the SUV driver was not released.

The 51 -year -old board and the 49 -year -old Melissa leave five children aged 17 to 25.

“It was a terrible tragedy for our community,” said Father Burke Masters, the couple's long -time pastor in the Saint Isaac Jogues Church in Hinsdale. “They are pillars of our community. Very credible people, five beautiful children, and it was tragic for our entire community to record these news.”

Burke described the alleys as regular parishioners and active participants in the program for adult faith formation of the church, which are formed.

“You see them regularly at the fair, only very modest, calm but joy filled,” he said. “Everyone in this community knows them and was positively affected by them in any way”.

Since the accident, the church has gathered around the Lane family. A rosary took place on Saturday evening in Saint Isaac Jogues, and Burke advised the children and the large family of the couple.

“One of the beautiful things on Hinsdale is the close -meshed community,” added Burke. “There is not much what you can do than go with you as the trip during this time of grief.”

The burial of the alleys will take place on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Saint Isaac Jogues Church. A visit is planned for Tuesday in the Sullivan Funeral Home in Hinsdale.

In addition to its effects on the community, Brett Lane Chief Technology Officer was at Panduit Corp., a global electrical and network infrastructure company with headquarters in Tinley Park. He worked in the company for more than 25 years.

“Brett's passion for innovation was really contagious and touched everyone who had the privilege of working with him,” said Shannon McDaniel, Panduits President and CEO, in a statement. “He was a tireless champion for curiosity, invention and excellence.”

The La Grange police department asks everyone with information about the crash to contact the investigative unit under (708) 579-2333.

While the community of Hinsdale mourns, Burke said that the legacy of the alleys will continue to live – through her family and their faith.

“We just celebrated Easter a little more than a week ago,” he said. “And that is our hope – just as Jesus got up from the dead, we believe that those who believe in him will also do. And the Lane family are strong believers. This belief helps them and all of us to get through it.”
