Austin, Texas (KWTX) – The police in Austin announced the arrest of Rodney Bremby, 34, at the death of the captain of the fire brigade of Killen, Marvin Taylor III.

Bremby will be charged in the fatal collision, which took place on Sunday, May 11th, around 1:05 a.m. in the 600 Block of E. Koenig Lane around 1:05 a.m., for poisoning.

KWTX learned that captain Taylor left a hospital in Austin, Texas, after greeting his fifth child. He was on the way back to the Copperas Cove area to pick up his other children to present them to their new siblings.

Austin's police said that Bremby drove with an SUV when he ended the van at high speed from Taylor. Taylor was declared dead at the crime scene.

Bremby is recorded in the Travis County prison with a bond of 103,000 US dollars.

The Killeen Fire Department said that captain Taylor started service at the department on July 7, 2014 and had been with them for over 10 years.

He was promoted to the rank of a fire brigade captain on July 12, 2024 and finally assigned to the training department as captain of the Operations training.

In a statement by the city of Killen, they announced that “Captain Taylor was known for his commitment, his leadership and countless missions with the Texas A & M Task Force 1 and Tifmas.

In the memory, the city reduced all flags on Monday morning at 8 a.m., and the flags remain until 8 a.m. the day after its funeral.

The Killen Fire Department along other local emergency agencies and DPS also accompanied the body of Captain Taylor I-35 from Austin to the Temple-Leichenhalle.

In a statement, Killen thanked fire chief James Kubinski for their support and asked for privacy as a department and captain Taylor's direct family process.
