The family urges answers after mother was killed in Glendale in hit-and-run

Glendale, AZ (Azfamily) -It was two weeks since a Valley mother was killed in Glendale in a hit-and-run accident. So far, there are no leads and no video why detectives ask for their help to break the case.

Candles, flowers and a cross are reminiscent of the place where 30-year-old Valentina Provencio Ortiz lost her life.

“Why is she gone? It wasn't time to go,” said Angelina Provencio, the victim's mother. “I can't rest. I don't sleep. I can't eat at the moment”

Angelina is now to educate the three small children from Valentina, including a son with Down syndrome.

“It is very difficult to take care of these children because I see them in all three,” she said. “She left her legacy and I have to go on.”

According to the Glendale police, Valentina went on April 27 at around 2 a.m. with her boyfriend and bike in a neighborhood near the 54th and Northview Avenue. Someone in a white four-door Toyota sedan with tinted windows hit Valentina before driving off, and then her friend called 911.

“Not a suspect at all. Just clear, just a witness. No participation at all. I was there and went to her when it happened,” said Sgt. Bryan Hoskin.

Hoskin says that they don't have much to do at the moment. The only known witness is the friend and there is no video by The Hit-and-Run.

“It makes it difficult because it is also a very low road. Especially at 2 a.m.,” said Hoskin.

After checking the hourly traffic camera film material, nothing appeared. The police were also unable to reach the friend for a follow-up interview.

Angelina wonders what else he knows. “I just collect my brain from what if, how, why? Why did the friend no longer do it? He was there.”
