Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest, which was placed in the induced coma after scary injury

A Premier League player was built into an induced coma after undergoing an abdominal injury to an operation that was classified as “urgent”, various outlets reported on Tuesday.

Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest had suffered on Sunday during a 2-2 draw against Leicester City after the interaction with the goal post when trying to reach a ball.

Awoniyi had been put into a coma to restrict his movement and to regulate his heart rate after his operation on Monday, and, according to several British media, will undergo the second part of his operation on Wednesday.

In a statement published on Tuesday, Nottingham Forest said that Awoniyi had recovered well from the “urgent operation to serious abdominal injury”.

The injury was the subject of controversy in the Premier League.

Awoniyi had received three minutes of treatment before he got back on his feet late in the game and tried to play it.

The injury was difficult at this time because Awoniyi was integrated into the goal post at full speed.

“The seriousness of his injury is a strong memory of the physical risks in the game and why the health and well -being of a player always come first,” said the team in a statement.

“In Nottingham Forest, this principle is not just a policy for us. It is the deep faith and conviction of our owner. This is not just a football club on Evangelos Marinakis, but a family.”

Marinakis went to the square after the game and had an animated conversation with Nottingham Forest Manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Espirito Santo described that after the game Awoniyi could continue to play as “miscommunication” as “miscommunication”.
