Expert found no mushrooms of the fatalities in the sample, hears Court hearing

Dr. Camille Truong On August 1, a package with remnants of the beef -Wellington -Essen was sent -three days after the fatal lunch with Erin Patterson's house.

It was a large pressure lock bag that contained the food.

She put on gloves and used sterilized tweezers and a microscope, the dish hears.

I saw that it was a food that contained mushrooms inside.

I picked out the pieces of mushrooms.

She says she has not found mushroom pieces for death caps.

Then she returned the remains in her pocket and put them in her fridge.

The next day she brought the remnants to the Royal Botanic Gardens laboratory.

“I pulled out all the small mushroom pieces on a tray … I also took photos of the spores I watched.”

Asked by the prosecutor, Nanette Rogers SC, if she has found any mushrooms of deaths in the subject, she says “No, I didn't do it”.

Truong says that the only mushrooms she found were “field mushrooms” that can be found in supermarkets.

Jurors showed CCTV film material from a Victorian tip

Darren Canty Says that on August 4, 2023, he was contacted by the Victoria police on the tip. He was asked to inquire about film material after August 2.

He found the CCTV film material and sent this to the police, he says.

The film material played by the jurors shows a red Four wheel car car that drives to the parking lot at the top.

After parking, a woman gets out of the car and opens the trunk before going to the dandruff at the top.

Canty says he asked an employee to check the tip scales on August 4th. He remembers the discovery of the employee:

He said it looked like a microwave thydrator.

The court room is a photo of the black dehydrator discovered at the top.

The public prosecutor called her next witness, Darren Canty.

He is the manager of the Dasma Group, which operates the Koonwarra Transfer Station and the landfill, the court hears.

No plates that show that people get sick from mushrooms bought in the shop

barrister Colin Mandy SC says Dr. Camille Truong The doctors also told that further options for testing the mushrooms would include DNA tests of samples – that this would be difficult.

Truong says that the difficulty is due to the fact that samples may come from mixed mushroom sources.

Mandy turns to the possibility of mushroom poisoning of supermarket supply chains. Truong agrees that it is highly unlikely due to its use of cultivation mushrooms.

Truong says that it is also very unlikely for poisoning with mushrooms in smaller, independent shops.

“The information that was available to them was there no records that people were sick due to mushrooms that were sold in shops?” Asks Mandy.

“Right,” replies Truong.

Patterson's lawyer Cross-Examines mushroom expert

Erin Patterson's lawyer, Colin Mandy SC, counts Dr. Camille Truong.

She confirms that she has drawn the same conclusion that the rehearsals contained no death mushrooms twice after examining the remains.

Mandy said she had a call to doctors on August 1, 2023 when Truong discussed that the remains had contained ghost or oyster mushrooms.

“Highly unlikely” -Tod -Cap mushrooms could be bought in the supermarket

Dr. Camille Truong A Victorian Gift Information Center toxicologist usually sends photos of mushrooms for identification.

It is “extremely rare” to be asked to identify a mushroom with a sample, she says.

On July 31, 2023, Truong received a call from Dr. Laura MuldoonThe court hears a toxicological registrar at Monash Health, who asks for help to identify the mushrooms.

Muldoon said the hospital had four patients with alleged mushroom poisoning.

The jury is displayed an e -mail that Muldoon sent to Truong a day at 12.03 p.m.

The E -Mail contains a photo that was previously shown to the jury and shows a brown paste that is enveloped in pastries.

Truong says she asked Muldoon if she knew where the mushrooms came from.

I told her that on the basis of this special photo I would not be able to give her ID.

Truong says Muldoon told her that she understood that the mushrooms were bought in a supermarket and a Chinese business.

Truong said she said Muldoon that it was “probably impossible” to be a fattening mushrooms because they only grow in the wild and are unable to be cultivated.

I also told her that there were absolutely no sightings of mushrooms of death capacity in the past few months.

Based on the information I received, it was highly unlikely that it was a case of fatal mushroom poisoning.

The public prosecutor called its next witness – another mushroom expert

Dr. Camille Truong is a mycologist or scientist who studies fungi.

Truong is a research scientist at the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria, the court hears.

The Gardens has a 24-hour mycologist for the Victorian Gift Information Center to identify fungi.

Dr. Thomas can complete evidence
