Family of the man shot, killed by the police in Orem and continues to fight for answers

Orem, Utah – a family tries to get answers after being shot by the police in Orem last week.

The examination is still in progress, but the family of Jesse Anderson wants to find more details about what exactly led to the 24-year-old was shot in his house while the officials had an arrest warrant.

“I had her in my office and there was no dry eye in the room,” said the family lawyer, Peter Sorensen, in Sykes McAllister Law Offices. “It is very new and you still have a lot to process and process.”

On Monday, the Task Force of Utah County Major Crimes published an explanation with the inscription that officials were looking for Alejandro Demery near 400 North and 800 East in OREM. He was arrested for drug possession and the intention. Later that night, officials served an arrest warrant in the Anderson's house in this area.

“Jesse is about two steps out of his bedroom and was shot,” said Sorensen. “There is very little explanation of what happened.”

The family described Anderson as “a good person … he was energetic, enthusiastic and fun -loving man”.

In the declaration, the police said they “met a man who did not comply with the orders of the law enforcement officers”.

The family said that didn't happen.

“They shot three times within a few seconds after entering the house and killed Jesse Anderson,” said Sorensen.

However, their biggest question is why the police were even there.

“We are still trying to find out why the same civil servants who carried out the arrest carried out the search for this person after they knew that they had arrested this person and, according to information that we only said a few hours later, they knew that they were already arrested,” said Sorenson.

Sorenson added that the family told him that Anderson's brother was “a friend of the person in question”.

They hope for answers and accountability and try to find out exactly what happened.

“You have wrongly lost a member of your family and then fight against this hard fight to get simple answers. It gives an enormous emotion of an already devastating experience,” said Sorensen.
