Family of the man who was killed in Norco Carjacking

A family in Germany mourns the loss of a 79-year-old father who was killed on Monday during carjacking.

James Norman from Corona sucked his car at the car wash of a Norco petrol station when a man approached his vehicle and jumped to the driver's seat. Norman was partly in the back seat at the time and stuck when the thief held. He was pulled about a mile and died of his injuries.

Those who know Norman say that he went to Jim, and he remembered that he was an integral part in the neighborhood that lived in his house for 42 years.

“I have to struggle with the vision,” said Nicole Lauritsen, Noran's daughter, in tears. “I think he was so afraid.”

Witnesses remember that they have tried to help an older man who died Carjacked after being pulled by his own vehicle in Norco. Tracey Leong reports on Monday, May 12, 2025, at 11 p.m. for the NBC4 News.

Lauritsen said she initially did not know that her father has the victim of carjacking. She remembered her father's neighbor who had helped with the examination.

“She said, 'Your father had an accident. Can you follow his phone?' I said, “No, but I can follow his car,” she said.

The police arrested Ryan Hewitt (29) in connection with the incident. He is charged with the second degree murder, carjacking and a firearm. He should appear in court on Wednesday.

While the victim's family is looking for justice in their loss, they also mourn a life that was taken abruptly.

“He was a good guy and he was the father who fished and hunted and camped,” said Lauritsen.
