Why is the boycott Sitaare Zameen par “on X? Aamir Khan's new film, which is exposed to warmth about this reason

As a public anger towards Turkey, the demands for boycotting Turkish airlines have also gained dynamics online. The Indian citizens who are upset about the direction of Türkiye to Pakistan are now extending their protests against Bollywood personalities associated with Turkey, including Aamir Khan.

Just a few hours after the release of the trailer for Aamir Khans upcoming film 'Sitaare Zameen par', the hashtag #boycottsitaarezameenpar began on the Social Media platform 'X' (formerly Twitter).

Despite his socially sensitive topic and Khan's emotional return to the big screen to 'Laal Singh Chaddha' (2022), some of the Internet users have already started to oppose the film.

The film was promoted as the spiritual successor of the classic “Taare Zameen Par” from 2007 and does not show Aamir Khan as a compassionate teacher, but as a basketball coach.

A team of intellectually challenged children must train his character under the court order and pave the way for another heartbreaking narrative. The trailer praised the challenges for children with intellectual disabilities.

Why is “Sitaare Zameen par” with boycott calls?

Despite the progressive message of the film, a wave of boycott post 'X' flooded, whereby changed posters “Boycott” were widespread.

The revival of this counter reaction seems to be connected to Turkey with a controversial photo by Aamir Khan with the first Lady Emine Erdogan in Turkey during his visit from 2020 while he was filming 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.

The Turkish controversy appears

Khan's past meeting with Emine Erdogan continues to trigger criticism, especially after the current geopolitical tensions. Many Indian users checked this problem in the middle of vocal support in Turkey for Pakistan, especially according to India's “Operation Sindoor” – a military retaliation of the Pahangam terrorist attack of April 22, in which 26 Indian tourists demanded life.

As a public anger towards Turkey, the demands for boycotting Turkish airlines have also gained dynamics online. The Indian citizens who are upset about the direction of Türkiye to Pakistan are now extending their protests against Bollywood personalities associated with Turkey, including Aamir Khan.

Despite the controversy, many spectators remain optimistic about the potential of the film to initiate meaningful conversations about inclusion, rights of disability and compassion in sport.

It remains to be seen whether the social media storm affects the film's cash output or whether the audience gathers behind its message when it comes to cinemas.
