The police revealed details about a “severe crash”, in which at least one person killed and a crossing near a popular suburban forest protection area was closed for hours on Wednesday.

The Wheaton police unveiled the crash, which took place shortly after 10 a.m. in the Butterfield Road near Herrick Road, a minivan and a motorcycle.

According to the authorities, a 22-year-old motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in the incident and brought to the Good Samaritan Hospital, where he later died of his injuries.

The driver of the minivan was an 84-year-old woman who was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. As a precaution, she was brought to the Central Dupage Hospital by Wheaton, the police said.

Some of the butterfield road remained closed more than four hours after the accident as crews, including the Merit Major Crash Reconstruction Team.

“Since this crash is still being examined, no further information is currently being published,” said the police in an update. “We expand the family, friends and community members who are affected by this tragic crash.”

The Wheaton Warrenville South High School informed the parents that the crash on Wednesday would have an impact on school traffic routes.

“The city of the city of Wheaton and Wheaton informed us that due to an accident examination, there will be extended road closures that will influence our transport routes this afternoon,” wrote Lorie Campos, Lorie Campos.

Campos said the school expected “considerable delays” on afternoon routes.

“We alerted our bus companies and will continue to monitor these closures if we acted towards the end of the day,” she wrote, and asked the parents who pick up the students to give additional time.
