Abrego Garcia: Trump says

Cnn

President Donald Trump admitted on Tuesday that he could secure the return of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a man from Maryland, who had been too deported to El Salvador last month, but refused to do so.

The comments seem to contradict earlier remarks that he and his top helpers have made, who say that the United States does not have the opportunity to return Abrego Garcia because it is in the care of a foreign government, although the decision of the Supreme Court is in the care that the Trump government has to “facilitate” his return.

“You could get it back. There is a phone on this desk,” said Terry Moran of ABC News during an exclusive interview that was broadcast on Tuesday evening.

“I could,” said Trump.

Moran pointed to the phone and said: “You could pick it up and with all the power of the presidency you could call the President of El Salvador and say:” Send him back “.”

“And if he were the gentleman they say, I would do that,” added the president. “But he's not.”

“I am not the one who made this decision,” said Trump, adding that he says that the government's lawyers do not want to help to bring Abrego Garcia back to the USA.

The administration admitted in court last month that Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran migrant, was deported because of an administrative error and the decision of a judge from 2019 ignored that he could not be returned to his home El Salvador, where his life could be in danger.

Since then, however, US officials have refused to return Abrego Garcia to the United States, and argued that they have no power to force El Salvador.

“This is due to El Salvador if you want to give him back. That is not up to us,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi to reporters in early April.

Nayib Bukele, President of Salvadoran, recently said in a meeting with Trump that his government did not like to detain and swore terrorists in his country to keep Abrego Garcia in prison.

Abrego Garcia entered the United States illegally at some point around 2011, but an immigration judge in 2019 retained his distance, with concerns for his safety. This meant that he could not be deported to El Salvador, but could be deported to another country. A gang in his home country, as the immigration judge stated, had “spoke to him and threatened him with death because of his family's doll business”.

US officials arrested the three-person father on March 12 and deported him after he claimed that he was confirmed by a “reliable source” as a member of MS-13.

The Trump government described the MS-13 gang as a foreign terrorist organization. However, Abrego Garcia and his wife deny the claim and at least one federal judge has expressed skepticism.

“This is an MS-13 gang member,” said Trump again in the ABC interview and quoted Abrego Garcia's tattooed hands that contain skulls that cover her eyes, ears and mouth.

However, experts have used doubts as to whether Abrego Garcia's tattoos prove gang bonds.

Last Tuesday, the judge, who monitors the case of Abrego Garcia, said that the Trump government did not act in “faith and faith” and accused civil servants of exciting their obligation to create information.
