Trish Brookes has undertaken a number of challenges since the violation of her spine four years ago

A woman who suffered a spine injury four years ago said she would continue to do “stupid things” because she is preparing to face her latest challenge for charitable purposes.

Trish Brookes from Crewe, Cheshire, lost a few days after she slipped into the shower in July 2021 and fell into the shower.

She had an operation to prevent it from being paralyzed, but had to use crutches or wheelchairs to move up.

Despite her injury, the three -person mother has since provided a number of challenges to collect money for the Spinal Injuries Association (SIA).

This includes your fears by swimming with sharks and abseiling 30.5 m (100.5 m) Down Liverpools Angield Stadium.

Ms. Brookes does not stop there and on September 20 and husband Ian, who is her caregiver, will make a 27 m slide-part and a kilometer-long canoe trip in the Peak District.

Trish Brookes tells BBC Radio Stoke how her injury does not prevent it from being brave

“It is all part to show the world that we can still do so much – we can still challenge ourselves and go out to do stupid things,” she said to BBC Radio Stoke.

“Although my advisor told me, there is further damage and the future is very insecure … I just want to enjoy life and live it in full.

“This spine injury to me is for life, but I will not let it stop doing things and do bold things by doing things that I have never done before.”

Ms. Brookes said she started to feel weakness on her left side, and her doctor told her that she would probably need another operation in the future.

“I'm still trying to live the best I can and can do as many normal things as I can, but it takes it out,” she added.

Ms. Brookes has so far collected around £ 3,000 and last year also contributed to setting up a self -help group for people with spine injuries in Crewe.

She said, “It's just nice to be able to speak to other people who know exactly what we're going through.”
