Teenager plunges a truck after leaving the minor drinking party

Lyons, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) Authorities in Kansas say that a 16-year-old driver is lucky enough to live after a rollover crash that took place through drinking and driving.

Nick Sopers, Sheriff of Rice County, says that a 16-year-old boy left a drinking ceremony for minors on Saturday evening and was behind the wheel. The teenager was involved in a rollover accident on an unpaved road and suffered serious injuries, reports KWCH.

The authorities say that the teenager is lucky enough to be alive.

“This could have been a time when a mother reminded forever that her child died on Mother's Day,” said Sowers.

The Sheriff's office shared photos of the pickup, which was involved in a fell -up hood and a taxi in the accident.

“I am very happy that none of my MPs had to give a mother's death report,” said Sowers. “This is the last thing we want to do.”

In this case, Sowers says the 16-year-old and other teenagers drank at a party with adults present. He says that the adults involved are held responsible for hosting and the permission of a minor on their property.

“If you make alcohol available to your child, do this with all the factors and realize that you open up the potential of something like this, and is it really worth it in the end?” Said Sowers.

The sheriff's office will also pursue charges in connection with the crash.

“We understand that this happens. We get it, but when this child went and climbed onto the street and affected the rest of the Motoring Public, we really had the problem and why we want to keep the line in this case,” said Sowers.

The sheriff's office asks young people who have drunk to call them or a trustworthy adult before they get on the wheel. You say you will not judge or file charges, but only a safe trip home.
