Randle, Timberwolves eliminate warriors in game 5 of NBA Playoffs | Basketball messages

Julius Randle scored 29 points on 13-against-18 shootings, and the Minnesota Timberwolves organized a victory with 121 to 17 against the Golden State Warriors to win their playoff series of the Western Conference in Minneapolis.

Anthony Edwards ended with 22 points and twelve assists for Minnesota, who won the best-of-Seven series in five games. The Timberwolves rose to the conference finale, where they are waiting for the winner of the series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets.

“It's great,” said Randle on Wednesday evening. “We had a season full of adversity. Coach (Chris Finch) said at the end of the regular season that we did nothing as far as trades or discharge trainers.

“I am very proud of our team, everyone who has climbed this year in some kind. We won No. 8 (in the playoffs). We have to continue.”

Brandin Podziemski scored 28 points in 11- opposite 19 shootings to guide the Golden State. Jonathan Kuminga added 26 points from the bank, and Jimmy Butler III. Increase 17 points and six templates.

“It was a fight,” said Warriors coach Steve Kerr. “I'm really proud of our boys. They have in there and they fought all the way through.

“(It was a pretty gymnastics in our season, of which we give a chance a few months ago and have a swing on the plate so that some real chances are deep. We were right there. Obviously it wasn't going too. The wolves were great, they deserve it. But I'm very proud of our team.”

The Warriors dropped their fourth game in a row without Stephen Curry, who watched the bank in street clothing. Curry injured his left armpit at the start of the series after led Golden State to a victory in the playoff series in the first round against the Houston Rockets.

Kerr said about the challenge of playing without a curry: “Injuries are part of the playoffs. I learned a long time ago that the playoffs really deal with health and then only appear people and take some big recordings in key games. That is what every series decides.

“We were at both ends. It is only part of it. There is no point in living about it, and I don't want to take anything from what Minnesota has just achieved.”

The Timberwolves led up to 25 points at the end of the third quarter. Randle dribbled the ball from one end of the square to another and ended with a running layup to give the Timberwolves a 93-68 lead with 1:01 in the third.

In the fourth quarter, the Warriors decided to reduce the deficit to nine. Moses Moody derived a 3 pointer to get golden state to play with 79-90 with 7:11.

Edwards helped Minnesota, a double -digit advantage, to regain shortly later. He knocked down a 3 pointer to put the Timberwolves on the top 102-90, and Jaden McDaniels increased the lead with theft and a layup with 6:36 to 14 points.

“The team teamed up at the right time and plays its best basketball,” said Finch.

The Timberwolves led half of 62-47.

Golden State remained 45-42 after Podziemski had made a jump shot in half with 4:11.

Minnesota closed the second quarter with a 17: 5 run to achieve a lead of 15 points. Randle ended the gate in the first half with a three -point game after playing a layup and pulling a foul.

The Timberwolves shot a total of 62.8 percent (49 out of 78) and 41.9 percent (13 out of 31) from beyond the arch. The Warriors shot 43.3 percent (39 out of 90) from the field and 28.2 percent (11 out of 39) from the 3-point area.

Celtics recovers to win game 5 without Tatum

In an earlier playoff game on Wednesday, Derrick White scored a game with 34 points and the Boston Celtics extended their season by defeating the New York Knick 127-102 in game 5 of the second round of the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks leads the best-of-Seven series 3-2 in the first games on Friday in New York.

White shot 7-to-13 from the 3-point area and made nine of his 11 free throwing attempts. Boston sank 22 of his 49 shots behind the 3-point arch (44.9 percent) and exceeded New York in the second half with 68-43.

The Celtics received 26 points, 12 templates and eight rebound from Jaylen Brown. Luke Kornet added 10 points, nine rebounds and seven blocked shots, and Payton Pritchard came from the bank to take five 3 points and score 17 points.

“We made competitions at both ends of the soil,” said Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. “You played enough games to win. We gave ourselves another chance to play.”

It was Boston's second playoff game without all-star striker Jayson Tatum, who was operated on Tuesday to repair a broken Achilles tendon with just Achilles.

Josh Hart scored a team high of 24 points for New York, which achieved 29 out of 81 from the field (35.8 percent). Jalen Brunson collected 22 points and six assists, but he fouled 7:19 to play. Brunson was asked for his fifth foul with 2:45 in the third quarter.

“That we didn't play for 48 minutes,” said Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau when we were asked what was noticed on Wednesday. “We didn't play hard with the leading role. I can't afford to do that.”
