At least 21 killed in a central Mexico for multi-vehicle crash

At least 21 people lost on Wednesday in a devastating street accident with a trailer car and a bus in central Mexico, the local authorities confirmed.

According to Samuel Aguilar, an official from the Puebla state, 18 people were declared dead at the scene, while three more succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. In local medical institutions, a unadorned number of others was treated.

The fatal crash occurred on the highway, which Puebla connected to the southern state of Oaxaca. The images circulating in Mexican media showed thick black clouds of smoke, which rose from charred rubble that were scattered across the road.

Traffic accidents have become increasingly common in Mexico in recent years, whereby the factors have often contributed to the fact that the maintenance of the vehicles, ruthless driving and fatigue of drivers often contributes. Goods are often involved in such incidents, which leads to renewed requirements for stricter security measures on the very overloaded motorways in the country.

This final tragedy follows a series of fatal street accidents in Mexico. In February, a collision between a truck and a bus in the state of Campeche 38 lives. A month later, more than 30 people died on the same day at two separate bus accidents, including one where a tractor-trailer and a trainer from the US state of Texas were transported passengers.
