Bladen County Schools meet highlights –

The Bladen County Board of Education shared the highlights of the latest meeting of the Board of Education with special thanks to our students Clarkton School of Discovery– Kemar Monroe, Jana Gore and Kelsey Pridgen – who led the promise of loyalty.

Headlights and recognition

Jerod Smith was recognized for his success in the ground and water competition. Jerod took first place in the Essay competition of the 9th grade.

The educational committee recognized the Elizabethtown Primary Battle of the Books team for the 1st place in the BCS Elementary Bob competition and the Tar Battle of the Books team for the 1st place in the BOB competition of the BCS Middle School.

The BoE recognized Elizabeththththnstudenter, Kannon Ripley, Mai Nguyen, Issac Espinoza, Evelyn Salgado, Isaiah Bizzel, David Josue Valenzuela Ayala, Keyree Thompson, Jared Media-Leal, Carter Davis, Maite Lopez-Segura and Sponsor Care-Long, for your Success with the NC-TiES student at the TIES showing notes in the Ties-Ties notes. The students worked together to build Shadowbox habitats and then build code animals to move in them!

Two Envirothon teams – Toam Ignite and the Backyardigans – were recognized for their success in the regional Envirothon. Both teams will take part in the state competition.

Congratulations to Abbygale Mohr, a student of the Bladen Early College High School, who was admitted to the Governor School in the School of Natural Sciences.

The community member Edward Smith spoke during the participation of citizens in relation to plans for primary school.

Dr. Atkinson and Mrs. Harrison should present the commissioner on May 5.

Ms. Harrison emphasized that this proposal is only for local dollars

The increased request from the district would help finance the funds:

Assistant to the main positions

Add positions of the teacher assistants to support our second class teams at every school (over a period of 5 years).

“Invest in Bladen”, a program with which interested teacher assistants can become licensed teachers

The increasing costs of employees and employees increase

The district made the same application last year without additional dollars.
