Boy, 13, dies months after a brain injury during the basketball game

Wichita, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News)-A 13-year-old boy from Kansas, who suffered a brain injury in March when playing a basketball tournament in March.

According to a child from Wichita, a sporting program of the base in Wichita, Shama'ar Jefferson unfortunately died of his injuries.

Relatives of Shama'ar said he was taken to the hospital on March 30 after suffering a traumatic brain injury during a basketball game.

According to the boy's family, Shama'ar said his head hurt and he had a blurred view after playing the first half of the game. The 13-year-old carried out a concussion test, but later collapsed.

Shama'ar was brought to the Wesley Children's Hospital. He went into the operation after doctors had found a cemeterry bleeding.

“We found that he had a brain hemorrhage, brain surgery and intensive care,” said his parents through a gofundme.

The family said they were at his side for his recovery efforts when they moved to the children's hospital in Kansas City and worked on a clearer forecast.

On April 20, however, Shaquela Cornwell said that her son had still not woken up since the collapse.

“He is a spectacular child, and so that this happens, there are no words to describe the things he goes through. It just hurts me,” said Cornwell last month.

The family's donations collected more than $ 15,000 to help with Shama'ar's medical editions.
