LMPD boss Humphrey announces violent crimes by more than 30%

Louisville, Ky. (Wave) – During the two -week briefing of Louisville Metro Police on Thursday, May 15, Chief Paul Humphrey reported that violent crime was continued below the figures from 2024.

Louisville stayed behind compared to other cities when he saw a persistent post -pandemical decline in violent crimes.

Numbers published by Chief Humphrey today stated that there were 40 murders this year, which corresponds to a decline of 31 percent compared to the previous year. In addition, the non -fatal shootings have dropped by 30 percent and carjackings have dropped by 36 percent.

“We still sunk by about 30 percent of murders, non -fatal shootings and robberies and carjackings,” said Chief Humphrey. “Our fatal traffic accidents also no longer failed. We would like to try to ensure that we will continue this trend over time.”

In 2024, the fifth year in a row in a row ended with three -digit murders, and today's announced numbers show that the city is on the right track to meet this brand again in 2025.

Last month, Mayor Craig Greenberg in Safe Louisville announced that his five -year plan to reduce violent crimes by 15 percent per year.

The Office for Prevention of Violence says that the latest figures for long -term improvements in public security build a dynamic.
