Mama Moose brings the world outside the Anchorage Hospital

Anchorage, Alaska (Ktuu) – While the Providence Hospital often serves as a place of birth for many human babies in anchorage, it also offers the perfect backdrop for wildlife centers.

That was the scene on Thursday morning on a piece of grass outside the Providence, in which a mom elk gave birth to the latest calf in the city.

The moment was recorded by spectators on video, which were safely watching behind glass panes on the outer of the building.

A video that was recorded by a viewer who identified himself as Louise C. shows the mother who opens up moments after the born calf when it begins to lick his offspring and promote the newborn.

Louise said she went to the hospital's café nearby when she noticed the crowd.

“I see a lot of people looking over the balcony and I like 'What's going on?' And so I go over and there is an moose that has just born and it is so exciting because this is a unique thing that can be observed, ”she recalled.

“It was just the sweetest thing ever and I've never seen anything like this.”

At the time of publication, the two moose were still in the area and it was unclear whether the birth process was over.

Providence is no stranger to moss encounters; Two years ago, a moose hiked into the lobby in the Providence Health Park in the U-Medistrict after allegedly noticing decorative potted plants through the glass panes from the outside.
