Parents of Bronwen Morgan demand the change in law to “save life”

The parents of a student nurse who committed suicide are supported with decisions about your care.

The 26 -year -old Bronwen Morgan, in which a personality disorder was diagnosed, died after he had no longer reacted in a hotel in Cardiff in 2020.

An investigation into Bronwen's death heard that on August 27, 2020 she told her father that she would go to a friend's house but never arrived.

Her phone was returned to a Premier Inn in Pentwyn, Cardiff, where she no longer reacted.

The investigation heard that Bronwen had complained about her care package in the days before her death.

But the forensic doctor found her death and the care she received could not be linked.

Bronwen's parents said her daughter tried to take her life about 40 times in two years, and added that she became “the norm” for the family.

“When she used life, it was no surprise for us because we could see that it would come,” said Ms. Morgan.

“And we tried to tell their care team, but they would say that they could not share anything due to the confidentiality of the patients.”

Mr. Morgan said his daughter would take part in her care's reviews, where she would be asked what it was and would wrongly say the relatives of the health professions that she was “ok”.

“What wasn't the case,” said Mr. Morgan.

“But if someone else were there, they could be able to be honest and honest and say:” This is not true, they were found on a bridge or they made an attempt this week. “

The couple said that they would like to see that joint decision -making will become the law.

“By having another person there, it will help to emphasize what the problems the patient is too difficult to share it,” said Mr. Morgan.

Ms. Morgan said the idea seemed “a bit of child's play”.

“I can understand why some people don't want a family member there, but a trustworthy friend or lawyer for mental health,” she added.

Bronwen's parents said that she was “encouraged” and “led” by a suicide website.

The forensic doctor asked the Great Britain and Welsh governments to make it more difficult to access such websites, and the website has been blocked since then.
