The 150th preakness stakes will run on the Pimlico Race Course this weekend. Nine horses compete for their place in the circle of the winner, but there will be a remarkable absence.

When the horses take their positions at the starting gate on Saturday evening, Kentucky Derby winner won Sovereignty will not be among them. This is because coach Bill Mott announced that after his victory at Churchill Downs, the horse would not lead to the prevalance on such a short turn.

Without sovereignty in the mixture, the door opens for another horse to get a triple crown victory. Journalism is the favorite at Pimlico with 8/5 profit chances. Sandman (4-1), River Thames (9/2) and Clever (5-1) are also among the favorites in Pimlico this weekend.

Four of the nine horses in this year's Preakness field – including journalism, Sandman and Clever – left the Kentucky Derby. The other was the American promise that will open a better performance after a 16th place in Churchill Downs.

So, who wins the 2025 prevention stakes? And which double -digit long shot is a must? Visit sportline to see Jeff Hochmans picks from the expert who dominated in triple crown races and find out.

Last year the Gray won the 149th PRAKNESS ORENTS with a time of 1: 56.82. We will see whether one of the horses in this year's field can do it for a warm and sunny day in Baltimore with a faster time.
