Aaron Nola injury update: placed on 15-day-il

The Phillies brought SP Aaron Nola (ankle) to the 15-day injured list. Garion Thorne breaks off the latest news and updates.

There is never a good time for a player to go to the IL, but Aaron Nola could probably use the mental break as well as the physical. On Friday afternoon, the Phillies put their former ASS on the 15-day injured list due to a right ankle. The move comes only two days after the Nola had allowed nine runs and 12 goals against the cardinals.

The Nola will only be 32 years old in early June, but the former seventh selection looks much older in 2025. In nine starts and 49.2 Innings, Nola has thrown on an ugly 6.16-e-e-e-fip with a 5.03 fip. Most worrying? Nola gave up a whopping 1.99 Homeruns per nine.

Not to simplify things too much, but most of these fights are off to the reduced fast ball speed of the veteran. Statistically speaking, it was one of the worst offers in baseball in 2025.
