According to the official sources, the leakage was caused by the irrigation department by some construction work.

“An earth -moved machine that was used to convert a pipe conductor into a waste waste was the earth when the equipment hit the pipeline and led to leak,” said sources. Nevertheless, the officials of the irrigation department checked the situation and informed the Bharat Petroleum Corporation LTD (BPCL), which PNG delivers over the pipeline.

“We also announced the police and the fire brigade. The area was cordoned off and the traffic was redirected to prevent an accident incident,” said Arun Munjal, Executive Engineer from the irrigation department.

He pointed out that the notification from the fact that a pipeline was led through the area was overlooked by the earth movement operator operator, when it was installed from the occurrence at some distance.

“However, the situation was soon brought under control in coordination with the affected officials of the BPCL and other affected departments,” he said.

The BPCL civil servants were dug up and filled them with water to contain the leakage. Fire engineers and a police party also reached shortly after they had been informed about the leakage. The officials concerned received the gas supply from the source, whereupon the leaky pipeline was repaired.

In the meantime, the area was cordoned off and vehicle traffic was diverted by other routes. According to the officials concerned, PNG is not as high as LPG and therefore does not represent much risk. “However, the leakage leads to a waste of fuel and the interruption of the PNG supply to repair the pipeline.
