Fake Delivery Driver Stop leads to Irvine burglary -crew arrests -NBC Los Angeles

The traffic stops of a driver who tried to pose as a worker for food led to the arrests of five people who were associated with a cross -border group for organized crime in connection with several burglaries in South California, the police authority from Irvine announced on Friday.

The investigation began on Easter Sunday, April 20, when a resident of Irvine called the police to report warnings from his home security system, which the people saw in his residence. The police reacted to the house and found that it had been searched with several objects, including designer money exchanges, shoes and jewelry.

The video camera video showed a woman who wore a seemingly food bag and ringing a doorbell in the residence. A few minutes later, the video showed three people, including at least one who wore an apparently delivery officer who ran from home and left in a white SUV.

Home owner Goulin Wang said that he enjoyed this Easter Sunday with his family when he noticed something unusual in a man who went through the neighborhood that seemed to be a delivery driver.

“This type didn't wear anything that day,” said Wang. “Walking slowly, looking around. I immediately told my wife: 'This type is suspicious.'”

During the police reaction, an official outside the house noticed a car that left the area and pulled the driver over for a traffic stop.

“The driver said that he delivered food to a customer by applying for the delivery of food, but could not state the address where he delivered it,” said the Irvine police in a statement. “During a search of his car, suspicious objects were found and the officials believed that he could be involved in criminal activities.”

The 24-year-old driver was arrested because he was not licensed and was brought back to the IPD to confirm his identification. The investigators found that the man was part of an organized burglary crew and identified some of his employees, the police said.

A one -month monitoring surgery of the crew led to the five arrests, the police said. The suspects identified by the police as Colombian nationals were committed to committed to suspected burglary, conspiracy, burglary, possession of narcotics and other crimes, the police said.

Investigators who serve search commands in the municipalities of the San Bernardino of Colton and Fontana found evidence of the suspects with the slump in Irvine. The evidence included stolen articles worth several hundred thousand dollars in two houses and a storage unit, the police said.

The separate surveillance camera video published by the department showed that one of the suspects on March 29 rang a doorbell on a house, the police said. On April 4, the video showed a masked man who entered the house through the front door and left a few minutes later.

The burglary -crew seemed to fell the neighborhood and call doorbells to determine if someone was inside.

“We have determined this type of behavior in which they monitor the area, try to fit into the area and travel in the crews,” said Sgt. Karie Davies from the Irvine Police Department.

The Irvine police also published videos of the cameras carried with the officials, which showed the arrests on May 15 in a Fontana Park.
