Kirana Hills in Pakistan explodes during the operation Sindoor, which leads to radiation leaves? No, here are the facts

Claim:A video supposedly shows an explosion in Kirana Hills in Pakistan to India's operation Sindoor with demands of radiation leaks due to the explosion.
Fact:The claim is wrong. The video shows an explosion in Sanaa, the Yemen, from 2015, not with India, Pakistan or an operation with Kirana hills.

Hyderabad: A video that shows a massive explosion with a light fireball that illuminates the sky above a residential area has become viral on social media. The film material records the dramatic explosion against a background of buildings and a mountainous landscape, which causes widespread alarm among spectators.

The video is shared with the claim that it represents an explosion in Kirana Hills in Pakistan, which was allegedly caused by India's operation – the retaliation against the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22 – with additional claims from BRAINGELLED after explosion.

An X user published the video on May 16 with a caption: “Kirana Hills Pakistan (radiation risk).” (Archive)

Facts

Newsmeter found that the claim is wrong. The video neither shows an explosion in Kirana Hills, nor is it related to Indian operations or radiation leaks. Instead, it is from 2015 and shows an air raid in Sanaa, Yemen.

First, we did not find any credible news or social media contributions about an explosion in Kirana Hills in Pakistan. In a report by Times of India on May 16, 2025, citing the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEO), “There were no reports on radiation leaks from a nuclear system in Pakistan.” This directly refutes the virus claim of radiation leaks.

In another report by the Hindustan Times it was found that the general director of the Luftmeister, Air Marshal AK Bharti, confirmed that the Indian armed forces did not target the nuclear situation in Kirana Hills in Pakistan.

With a reverse search for keyframes from the viral video, we followed the film material on a dailymotion video that was uploaded on September 13, 2015 entitled “Liveleak another massive explosion and shockwave in Sana'a, Yemen”.

The graphics in the Dailymotion clip, including the residential building and the mountain background, match the viral video. The 2015 upload upload is a decade of all recently in India Pakistan tension.

With these indications we found a report in the world that was published on September 13, 2015 entitled “I Wake To The Sound of Explosions”. In the report, the persistent Saudi Arabia coalition rays in Sanaa, Yemen, were described and the frequent and intensive explosions emphasized that rock the city, including one that revealed the reporter with a massive explosion.

Although we could not find the exact source of the video because it lies in front of the latest border conflict between India and Pakistan, newsmeter concludes that the virus entitlement is wrong.
